I don't know how many of you follow speedrunning, but there's a major charity event run by the speedrunning community called Awesome Games Done Quick.  All week, starting in about 10 minutes as of this posting, all sorts of games will be speedrun, with donations benefiting the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Of course, this post wouldn't be relevant to this board if it weren't for the fact that Descent II is on the schedule.  As of this post, its timeslot starts at 3:37 PM CST (GMT -6) on Tuesday, 10 January (this is subject to change as it is a live show, so keep an eye on the schedule).  They've had Descent runners on before, and it was a good time, so I'm personally very excited to see this.

Even though I post in dev orange, that doesn't mean you should take my word as gospel. What I say is what I know at time of writing. Programming is, at all times, a learning experience. Things change.

Start time is now looking to be around 2:06 PM CST (GMT -6).  I'll be linking it in the chat before the run starts.

I wonder how much longer it would take if he went for all the hostages.

That one spot on level 12 is hilarious...

Also very noticeable how some weapons like helix change colour depending on which palette the game is using.

Just watched through everything on that run. Blew me away.

Very impressed at how a combination of the clever exploits, extensive knowledge of shortcuts, and obvious exceptional skill made a game which takes me 5-10 times as long, lol. A good watch.

Is he a Descenter or just really good at games in general? Can't say I've seen him around.
