This has happened to me during the update process of the last two "Non-Production" builds. I did not report the last one as I assumed it might have been a "one off" type occurrence. But since it has happened to me the last two times in a row, I thought it was worth reporting. Here were the sequence of events:
1.) Click on Mega Missile Icon
2.) Admin permissions check = Yes
3.) SERVER MESSAGE // Welcome to Early Access. . . blah, blah, blah = OK
4.) Establishing link to Server
5.) ENVIRONMENT SELECTION // PROVING GROUNDS
6.) Clicked on PROVING GROUNDS [BUILD 2928]
7.) DOWNLOADING BUILD: 2928 (From 0 to 4965 MB)
a.) Waiting, waiting, watching grass grow, waiting for the paint to dry, etc.
b.) Will there EVER by a delta update installer, or are we going to have to download 4 to 5 GB's of Descent: Underground every other week ?
c.) Wait some more. . .
8.) UNPACKING: DESCENT-WINDOWSNOEDITOR.PAK (From 0 to 11633 MB / 12023 MB - approximately 97%)
a.) At which point the updater bombs out
b.) The interesting part is, if I go to the file system where the game is installed, I am left with a subdirectory here:
with a single file in it called noeditor_2928.zip which happens to be approximately 4.960 GB's in size
9.) I can then successfully extract the ZIP file, and it appears to create all the necessary files and subdirectories to make the Proving Grounds Build playable
Please note that the circumstances described above have never occurred on a Production Build (yet) and have only happened on the two most recent Proving Grounds Builds.
Merry Christmas !
