I am working currently working on a D2X-XL level and have recorded a demo of my first test of the level (Still a work in progress)

I would like to post it on Youtube but I am not sure what program I would need to post gameplay videos. So again, I would like some help on what the options are.  The demo is about maybe 17mb but is a good resolution, 1920 x 1080 I think, I do not know about FPS in the video but it appears that it plays a little funny in D2X-XL

I would appreciate any help on this, and in the future I might stream/record D:U videos as well.

Thanks,

Swingarm1032

Eep.  A lot of the free programs will only record a black screen from source ports of old games.

Fraps works well but I had to pay $30 for it.  I'm sure it will have been worth it for me some time years from now but for the amount I use it (and the amount you say you will) I'd say it's a waste of money.

Doesn't Steam support live streaming games you play to friends?  I wonder if that works with non-steam games.  Just about all of Steam's in game features work with D2X-XL but I've never had a chance to try that one.

If it does, you could stream to me, I could record it, and then send the video back to you somehow.

Also you should know, I'm on an anti-doors on flat walls campaign for levels built in the old games. tongue.png  It makes them look like they're made of paper.

My steam name at the right-now-time is Soot Leopard.  Can't guarantee what it will be in a week.  Or even a day. :D

I haven't tried testing how well its videos upload to YouTube, but OBS has a file output mode, and is also free.

I 2nd the recommendation for OBS. You can just ignore the streaming options to have it saved to a file. That's what I do with my D:U & the couple DCL matches I've played. You can use the screen/monitor capture but game capture is nicer. To get it added, load the exe, alt-tab out, & then adding the game capture source should detect the game.

PuDLeZ, thanks, However I am still seeing the movie files appear as a blank screen, Could you post photos of the settings (or list them) for your setup?

I got it to show the actual gameplay once but at the time, not knowing much about it I might have mucked up some setting somwhere.

I'm on Win10 Pro x64 but I did use OBS before the upgrade when I was on Win7. Few things more that I know you can try without googling around:

  • Try running OBS as admin (right click, run as admin) to rule out any permission issue. I had to do this for awhile with d:u otherwise I would just get a black screen.
  • Try deleting the game capture and try monitor capture instead. If you have more than one monitor, make sure you have it set to the correct one.
  • If you're using a laptop with the integrated + dedicated graphics (like Intel + nvidia) then you need to tweak some settings in the GPU control software
